EPA Deadline Looms, Threatening Local Tennessee Economies, May 14th

An end of May deadline is looming for EPA to decide if they are going to change ozone standards.  And although this may seem to be a minor regulatory change that benefits the public, in reality it is a potentially damaging economic setback to local communities with minor health benefits for the public.  Furthermore, most counties will be unable to comply with the new standards; threatening their ability to issue permits to allow businesses to develop new opportunities, or expand current enterprises that could bring new jobs to our state.

As a small business owner and advocate for the past 25 years, nothing has captivated me more than the current government action to further regulate and control our nation's energy resources and our citizen’s consumption of these resources.

The Waxman-Markey bill passed by the U. S. House of Representatives this past summer was my wake-up call.   The legislation authorizes regulations devastating to small businesses and homeowners across America and will have profound and unintended consequences for all of us.....
